About me
Hi I’m Nicola, a UX/UI designer and frontend developer based in Liverpool (UK). I’m currently seeking a junior/mid role in either of these fields but I am also available freelance work. I’m creative, hard working, well organised with an open mind to learn more.
Past experience:
Since I graduated in 2010 I have explored a wide variety of job roles, most of which were related to my degree (e.g. content creator). In 2021, despite being disrupted by the pandemic, I completed an apprenticeship in web development and earned several qualifications. But most importantly I gained valuable skills in designing and building websites.
What I can do:
By visiting the ‘Projects’ page you will see that I have excellent skills in responsive web design along with skills in UX/UI design including wireframing and prototyping. I have good skills in frontend development and I am familiar with a variety of software. I also have experience in content creation/management and digital marketing.
Web development
My skill set for web development is in frontend development (HTML, CSS and basic Javascript) but I do have practice in some areas of backend development such as SQL and PHP. I also have practice with WordPress, Divi, Adobe Dreamweaver, Webstorm, Visual Studio Code, Wix and Google DevTools.
UX & UI design
I’m very passionate about web design and in my most recent role I learned a lot about UX research as well as UX/UI design. You will see from my projects here that I can demonstrate my ideas based on the client’s needs through wireframes and prototypes then use these to create effective designs. I ensure that the client is kept up to date with my progress and take their feedback onboard. The main software I use is Figma but I also use Adobe XD, Whimsical and Marvel.
Content creation
One of the things I most enjoy in my career is being creative. As part of being a content manager and digital marketer I also got to create a lot of content. As a result I have great skills in graphic design, photography, filmmaking and creative writing (which is also one of my biggest hobbies).

JAW Innovation Group
A freelance project for JAW Innovation Group who specialise in AI software and bespoke software in the health industry. Includes wireframes and site designs.
DJ Kessey
A landing page site for a fictional DJ (personal project) that features Spotify mixes, a short biography and tour dates. Includes branding, wireframes and site designs.
blossom
A landing page for a fictional skin care product (personal project) that features a description, testimonials and an order form for a free sample. Includes branding, product design, wireframes and site designs.
Web Women Conference
A landing page site (personal project) advertising a fictional conference for women working in the digital industry. Includes branding, wireframes, site designs and a schedule document design.
Nicola is a very conscientious, hardworking and dedicated web developer with a high attention to detail. She picks up coding languages really well and considering she completed her apprentice during COVID has done outstandingly well. Nicola was a pleasure to work with and is a strong member of any team. I would recommend Nicola to any team looking for a dedicated junior web dev with a creative eye. A rare trait in the development world.
